GROVE GMK 6300-L, 300t class AT crane

GROVE GMK 6300-L (GMK 6350-L in the USA) is in the production since 2010. It starts with GROVE GMK 6400 together, shown to public in BAUMA 2010 for the very first time. This crane offers best boom in 80 m boom class, with very strong lifting capacity, designed for erecting tower cranes and any work on high reach with no needs to rig a jib. The boom, with strength optimal "O" shape MEGAFORMTM consists of 7 telescopic sections. It can be extended by a 37 m jib. This crane is a successor of GROVE GMK 6220-L and it is going to be very successfull one, guessed by sales of this model in 2012.

Basic performances of the boom:
Maximal load : 300 tones on radius of 2,5m
Maximal radius : 74 m with load of 2 tones
Maximal hook reach : 78 m with load of 12 tones on radius of 14 m

Basic performances of the 29 m jib with the boom extended to maximum:
Maximal radius : 88 m with load of 1,1 tones (up to the height of 63 m)
Maximal hook reach : 117 m with load of 3.3 tones on radius of 26 m

Technical description of the GMK 6300-L superstructure:

15,6 m to 80,0 m seven section MEGAFORMTM boom with TWIN-LOCKTM pinning. Elevated by 1 cylinder with safety valves, boom angle from -1,5° to +83°. 9 sheaves boom head
Optional jibs
  • 12 m - 21 m bi-fold swingaway jib, hydraulically offetable 5°-40°

Crane operators cab
All aluminum constructed cab with acoustical lining, hydraulic tilted to 20°. Includes tinted safety glass, adjustable operator’s seat, opening windows at side and rear, hinged windshield with wiper, sun visor and window shade. Other features include hot water heater/defroster, armrest integrated crane controls, ergonomically arranged instrumentation and radio/CD player, air conditioning, working range limiter.
For EU it is equipped by requirements of the latest version of EN 13000 standard

Load moment and anti-two block system
GROVE EKS 5 - system with audio/visual warning and control lever lockout provides electronic display of boom angle, length, radius, tip height, relative load moment, maximum permissible load, load indication and warning of impending two-block condition.
3 slewing gears with axial piston motors. Infinitely variable to 1.7 rpm. Free swing or hydrostatically engaged brake controlled by swing lever. Swing brake selected by foot operated switch..
Standard counterweight is 54.5 t, consisting of 6 sections weighing approx: 7t base plate and 5 slabs of 9,5t each Hydraulic removal system is controlled from the operators cab. Additional 38 t consisting of 2 x 9 t and 2 x 10 t. Total weight 92,5 t.
Superstructure engine
Mercedes-Benz OM926LA, diesel, 6 cylinders, water cooled, turbocharged,
  • Power 201 kW (286 HP) at 2200 rpm.
  • Max. torque: 1120 Nm at 1400 rpm.

Hydraulic system
2 separate circuits, 1 axial piston variable displacement pumps with power limiting control, 1 double gear pump for slewing.

Control system
ECOS electronic control of all crane movements using electrical control levers with automatic reset to zero. Integrated with the LMI (EKS 5) and engine management system by CAN-BUS. Crane Star Telematic system for online checking the crane status and position.
Main and auxiliary hoists are powered by axial piston variable displacement motor with planetary gear and brake.

Technical description of the GMK 6300-L chassis:

Special 6-axle chassis, all-welded torsion-resistant box type construction is fabricated from high strength steel.
4 double hydraulically telescoping beams with vertical cylinders and outrigger pads. Independent horizontal and vertical movement control on each side of the carrier. Font outriggers with hydraulic disconnection, removable rear outrigger box.

Allison automatic 4500 SP, 6 forward and 1 reverse speed. Transverse differential locks. Two speed transfer case with inter-axle differential lock.

Axle lines
6 axle lines. 1st, 4th, and 5th are driven steering axle lines, 2nd, 3rd and 6th are steering axle lines.

MEGATRAKTM. All wheels with independent hydropneumatic suspension and hydraulic lockout. Longitudinal and transverse level control with automatic on-highway leveling system. Range +170 mm/-130 mm.
12 tires with standard size 14.00 R25. As an option can be chosen size 16.00R25 or 20.50R25. The tires can be mounted on steel or aluminium rims.
Dual circuit, hydraulic power assisted steering with emergency steering pump. Axle lines 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 steer on highway. Separate steering of the 3rd, 4 th, 5 th and 6 th for all wheel steering and crabbing.
Service brakes: pneumatic dual circuit, acting on all wheels, air dryer. Parking brake: pneumatically operated spring-loaded brake acting on axle lines 2, 4, 5 and 6.

Two-man, composite designed aluminum and fiber reinforced plastic construction with the following features: safety glass, driver seat with pneumatic suspension, engine-dependent hot water heater, power windows, heated rear view mirrors, complete instrumentation, driving controls, reversing camera system, air conditioning, radio/CD player, 12V plug and fire extinguisher.
